Heilaheill

Heilaheill is Non-profit and non-governmental organisation for people interested in cerebrovascular disease from Iceland.

Members are people with brain damage, aphasia, and their relatives. The work of the association is done in collaboration with specialists in the area of late brain damage. Today, many specialists and others interested are also members.

Over the past year, Heilaheill has focused on several key areas, such as working with the public sector to improve care for patients with brain damage and aphasia, including developing an app to recognize stroke faster and make it easier to contact emergency services. The app also allows the rescue center to locate the affected person more quickly. The association also organizes training courses and disseminates information on risk factors such as stress. In addition, Heilaheill publishes information leaflets and organises group courses with speech therapists to provide continuous support after rehabilitation. Groups for so-called peer education also meet regularly. To raise public awareness, the association publishes articles in national newspapers and publishes the Slagorðið edition. Up-to-date information and news are available on the www.heilaheill.is website.

The project, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Icelandic organization Heilaheill and the Czech organization Cerebrum, is essential to improve the care and support of patients with acquired brain damage. This cooperation will enable the sharing of best practices, innovative tools and methods that can significantly improve the quality of life of disabled people in both countries.
